Ivan Koumaev 3 Master Classes- Saturday, June 1, 2013

Ivan Koumaev, one of the most sought-after professional dancer/choreographers working in film, TV and on stage, today will be coming to Culture Shock Dance Center to teach three Master Classes on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Youth (7-12), 2:30-4:00pm, Teens, 4:15-5:45pm (Q&A about “The Industry” with Ivan 5:45-6:00pm) Adults, 6:00-7:30pm
$25 per class (Age groupings are guidelines and classes will be designed for each age level. But, students are allowed to take more than one class in other age groups.)

We will be closed Monday, May 27th, in observation of Memorial Day. We will be open Friday and Saturday May 24 & 25 and will re-open Tuesday, May 28th.

NEW Youth & Teen Dance Classes

Session B Classes start Week of May 28-June 3
These classes will be invited to perform at the San Diego County Fair at Del Mar on Wednesday June 26th at 3pm, includes free admission to Fair.
No registration Fees- Sessions are one class a week
Monday and Wednesday classes are 8 week sessions at $90
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday classes are 9 week sessions at $99

Culture Shock Dance Center

Culture Shock Dance Center is San Diego’s premier contemporary dance training facility. Our goal is to give dancers of all levels the best training and most useful tools to fulfill their potential in fitness and dance. There are no other dance studios in San Diego that offer the diverse programming and professional level of classes and instructors as Culture Shock Dance Center.

Beginning Contemporary, Mondays at 6:30 pm, Intermediate Contemporary, Wednesdays 10 to 11:30am and Intermediate Contemporary, Fridays 10 to 11:30 am
Contemporary Technique class will begin with exercises meant to bring attention to and challenge the ways in which dancers balance, are clear and efficient in their practice and performance. We will do standing phrases, stretch and learn choreography that travels across the floor to explore dynamic, quality, phrasing and how we use time and intention.

Choose a studio with a professional “floating floor”. A floating floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. Hip Hop Dance at Culture Shock

Culture Shock Dance Center has been teaching San Diegans to breakdance for years. Their hip-hop dancers have won MTV competitions and performed in music videos. This weekend, Culture Shock dancers - young and old - will take to the stage. KPBS reporter Angela Carone and video journalist Katie Euphrat give us a sneak peak at rehearsal.
