The Pro Track, For all dancers interested in becoming their best, most accomplished selves. Whether interested in pursuing a career, have had a career and want to keep dancing or just want to train to be better at your craft, this Training is for dancers of all skill levels to fulfill their potential as versatile and multi-dimensional dance artists.. In collaboration with professional dance artists and educators Steven Sofia and Wilson Mendieta.

Steven Sofia
Teacher: Dance and Pilates at Chapman University, Artist-in-Residence at the University of Washington for the Musical Theater Program, Dance Faculty with NYU, Cap21, SUNY Purchase, Marymount College, Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway. Steven is also a certified classical Pilates instructor. Steven is a Broadway performer, dance captain, choreographer and a certified classical Pilates teacher.
Performer: Broadway and National tours: Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s LifeChicagoKiss Me KateBeauty and The BeastGuys and Dolls (‘92 revival) and Jerome Robbins’ West Side Story. Other credits include: A Chorus Line at Olney Theatre, An Evening with Betty Buckley at Carnegie Hall, Applause at City Center’s Encores, Susan Stroman’s Contact with Sarasota Ballet, Tony Awards and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The American Dance Machine, working with Ron Field, Agnes DeMille, Buzz Miller and Gwen Verdon. Assistant to Broadway choreographers Tony Stevens and Chris Chadman.
Director/Choreographer: Restaged National Tour of Chicago, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade production number with Andy Williams, productions of Pippin and Anything Goes at the University of Washington, directed and choreographed Pippin for NYU’s Cap21. 

 

Wilson Mendieta 
Teacher: Assistant Professor in Dance at Chapman University, Director of the Musical Theater Program at the University of Washington in Seattle (2013 - 2017), University of Minnesota, SUNY Purchase, Montclair State, Tisch School of the Arts, CAP 21, Steps on Broadway, and Dance New Amsterdam. M.F.A. degree in Dance and a Nonprofit Management Certificate from the Evans School of Public Affairs, B.F.A degree in Acting and a B.A. minor in Dance from Montclair State University.
Performer: Television and radio commercials, Concert Dance Companies, on Broadway, Bombay Dreams, Man of La Mancha and National Tours, Chicago, Off Broadway, Celia. Working with Chita Rivera, Tony Stevens, Patti LaBelle, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mark Dendy and Kevin Wynn.
Choreographer/Director: Chapman Celebrates and the Dance Faculty Concert, Pippin, Sweet Charity at Univ. of Washington, The Kennedy Center, Dance Festivals in Venezuela and Australia.
Research: To better equip performing arts students for sustainable careers in their fields. Presented at the International Conference on Visual and Performing Arts in Athens, Greece and the Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities in Oahu, HI. Also has served as a panelist for several arts funding organizations including The National Endowment for the Arts.
